The man responsible for "Alias," "LOST," and "Fringe," as well as the movie reboot of Star Trek and Mission Impossible 3, is soon to bring his directorial magic back, this time to NBC. 

According to The Hollywood Reporter, J.J. Abrams will direct the pilot for the new NBC series "Undercovers," which has been described as a comedic man-and-wife spy drama.  Think Mr. and Mrs. Smith, only as a weekly series. 

J.J. Abrams hasn't directed a television pilot since "LOST" debuted in 2004, after which he went to work on films like Mission Impossible 3 and Star Trek.
